Angel of Hope Clinic
Through a collaboration between Wheaton Franciscan Heath Care, Health Care for the Homeless, and Hope House, the Angel of Hope Clinic provides quality health care and prescription drugs to those who otherwise would go without. In 2008, the Angel of Hope Clinic provided care for over 3,200 adults and children.

The Angel of Hope Clinic offers medical treatment to adults and children using a sliding scale fee schedule for persons who have low or no incomes.  Patients receive a wide variety of health services with access, for those who need it, to an interpreter or a bilingual healthcare professional.

The clinic works with diabetes and asthma patients in an ongoing effort to improve their health and quality of life. Through regular visits to the clinic, patients with chronic illnesses have experienced dramatic improvements managing their condition and their quality of life. The clinic provides children with immunizations, physical exams and developmental screenings.

Community Outreach
Hope House recognizes the importance of developing and maintaining a strong connection to residents in the surrounding neighborhood. To this end, the agency hosts and facilitates a number of events, including community forums, neighborhood clean-ups, educational seminars, and crime reduction efforts. Last year, nearly 500 neighborhood residents participated in community organizing events.

The surrounding community not only benefits from these events, but assists in making them happen! Every summer, Hope House organizes a Community Street Fair with music, food and games for children. In August of 2008, 400 residents took advantage of the information and activities at the fair. Over 200 children participated in games to win prizes (school supplies). People could wander through thirty booths with information on community resources. Neighborhood residents volunteered to cook hotdogs and run games at the street fair. A neighbor to Hope House even brings out his ice cream truck and gives away free snow cones every year.

In December, many of the same children are able to whisper their holiday wishes to a bilingual Santa, have their photo taken, and receive a personal gift. Over 200 neighborhood children visited with Santa.

Hope House is also utilized by city officials for community meetings.

The United Southside Food Pantry
The United Southside Food Pantry located at Hope House offers emergency food supplies to families and individuals. The pantry assists families in the provision of basic food staples, baby food, and infant formula to low-income, disabled, and elderly people.

In 2008, the pantry provided bags of food for more than 3,335 households including over 9,200 individuals. This was possible through the help of volunteers who donated over 3,000 hours of service. Many local churches and businesses, along with Hunger Task Force, donate food to keep the pantry stocked.

In addition to providing community residents in need with nutritious food, the pantry staff organizes and distributes about 200 holiday food baskets each year in December

The Milwaukee community continues to experience a growing problem with the lack of proper nutrition for low-income families. The pantry aids families in the midst of crisis while at the same time offering them an opportunity to learn about nutrition resources in the community.
