On March 13th, 2014
you gave us $17,936 ways
to end homelessness!

This year, the 24-hour online giving event known as Match Day was a huge success for our organization. Through your generous donations, we were able to raise $17,936 - nearly $2000 more than in 2013!

This will mean funding for programs such as:

  • our direct shelter programs: Thresholds for men and the Chrysalis program for women and children
  • the Single Resident Occupancy housing program located on the grounds of the Veterans Administration
  • services and housing for at risk and chronically homeless individuals at the Johnston Center
  • our bilingual Pathways to Progress GED program
  • the Angel of Hope Clinic a low-cost health clinic housed in our building and operated and staffed by Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare
  • our free-to-the-public Shining Stars Youth and Teen programs that includes tutoring, after school activities, field trips and summer workshops ranging from gardening to bicycle building
Comprehensive programing such as ours is designed to decrease rates of homelessness by working to assess deficiencies and address multiple areas of need. By providing access to programming, case management and supportive services, we are able to work toward fulfilling our mission to end homelessness and create healthy communities in Milwaukee.

To all who donated for Match Day this year, or have donated to us in the past, thank you so much for supporting the work we do - we could impact and prevent homelessness without you!!

Coming Up...
Spring is Just around the corner, which means our Shining Stars teens are studying hard and our youth are beginning to plan for summer gardening here at Hope House.

As an incentive for hard work, once a week the teens get to escape Hope House for a few hours to study at local coffee shops, where they can indulge in a steamy beverage and quiet respite from some of the younger kids.
Donations of gift cards to local coffee shops come in handy
and help us offer fun incentives for hard work and academic success. Next time you are getting coffee on the way to work, or on an afternoon break, consider getting a gift card and donating it to our Shining Stars Teens!

Each year , one of our most popular summer programs involves planting and tending the gardens at Hope House. From our youngest participants, to our older youth and teens, getting their hands in the soil offers its own reward, but it also offers opportunities to begin learning about where their food comes from and how to eat nutritionally, as well as the botany and biology of how plants grow, or what worms do to build the soil.

So if coffee is not your thing, but tomatoes are, consider donating gardening supplies, or tools to Hope House to help us prepare for spring and summer planting and gardening activities.
If you are interested in donating other items to help cover needs in other areas in our programming, you can also visit our  Wish List page to see items we are in need of. You may also simply click the donate button below to make a financial donation.
